To ensure that you are not being duped, inspect the physical condition and ensure that it is as described by the vendor, if not worse. For example, if the vendor claims it's in pristine condition yet there's a large dent, there's something amiss. Clean the MacBook and remove any dirt or grime that has accumulated on it. Ascertain that the MacBook can be booted.
Go to Video > Snapshot from the top menu (or right-click on the video screen and select Snapshot, or use the keyboard shortcut CMD + ALT + S). In the upper right corner of the video screen, a thumbnail of the captured frame will show.
